Armenian cultural: Gomidas Vartabed Concert: His life and his music

Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 1:15 pm there would a not to be missed special event dedicated to Gomidas Vartabed. A concert dedicated to his unique perspective on his life and music.

It will take place at Holy Cross Church of Armenia, 187th Street between St. Nicholas and Audubon Avenues in Manhattan.

I will be an hour long program, in the church sanctuary after Soorp Badarak (Holy Badarak). Liturgy begins at 10:30 am.
Parking on the 187th Street block is permitted. Get a windshield permit in church.

Admission is FREE. Voluntary contributions are appreciated. Reception and luncheon after the concert.

The performers are talented members of the Holy Cross family:
Anahid Syourapian, piano
John Vartan, oud and kemencha
Alexan Kasabian, vocals
Hagop Dedeyan, vocals
Anna Mintanciyan, organ

The program will be a narration of Gomidas’ life, and the performed pieces will show how the events of his life, both the fortunate and tragic ones, shaped his songs and their interpretation.
