Armenian businesses in Baku

As FB changes and information disappears or hard to find, here is copy of what he posted today:

Baku's largest oil companies in 1898 (taken from the Caucasian calendar for 1900).

I highlighted everything with Armenian owners (which I could learn about, perhaps some unmarked partnerships are also part of this group and doubts about Shabaev too).

Under the 4th issue, by the way - the Caspian-Black Sea partnership is Rothschild.

P.S. The historian of the Armenian community Baku Khachatur Dadayan wrote in the comments that the companies under numbers No. 22, No. 26 also had Armenians-owners, Antonov was also Armenian (X. Antonian, chairman of the Armenian human-loving (philanthropic) society of Baku).

P. P. S.- 2 If I had Dan Brown's talent and some tendency to conspiracy, I would start writing a book that pogroms in February 1905 were initiated to remove Armenians as competitors. Actually, a number of contemporary authors interpreted these events.

There is, actually, a book written by Luigi Villari of these days “Fire and Sword in Caucasus” - it describes, in precise details, what, why and how the massacres happened.

Worth to read. Highly recommend.

- The wealthiest Armenians have always lived outside the Armenian Highland (our homeland). This is/was a problem. After a while, these institutions simply do not stay Armenian for one reason over another - whether ethnic cleansing or assimilation (our current 21st century problem, which is in a way passive self induced ethnic cleansing).
